What do dating scammers want from their victims?

See full size image

THESE SCAMMERS WANT MONEY NOT LOVE BECAUSE:
  •  The scammer will tell you about their devastating financial problem.
  • These scammers will promise to come visit but you must send them money.
  • They will also claim that a member of their family has a terminal disease just to get your sympathy.
At the end of the day their reason for needing the money will sound plausible.

 THE PHASES OF SCAM

http://www.saferdates.com/category/blog/safer-in-the-city-by-jessica-walker/

Finding the victim

The scammer usually finds an attractive picture of a young girl between the ages of 18-45 years.

Grooming the victim

The scammer will then start to develop things a bit further when they start to write you love letters and even email you on your private email address.

Asking for money

This is the phase of exactly what do these scammers want from their victims.

Once the scammer is "inlove" with the victim that is deeply inlove then the scammer will begin with the real preparations to weigh their options. The scammers approach will be to come visit you where ever you are so they will ask you for money and they wll start at a small sum of money as a test whether you can give them money or not. They can do this by:
  • Telling that they already have a working visa in your country
  • They can also give you contact of a person in your country as "proof"
  • The scammer will send copies of  documents as proof that thery are "real"
Milking the victim for as long as possible

The scammer will then start having finacial problems telling you that they want to marry you but cannot because of their family member having a terminal illness. He/she will start asking for sum a large sum of money for "helping" him/her out in their situation.

The disappearing act

The mone yrequest can go on and on for months others even years then the scammer will start tearing apart from the relationship by starting to only write to you once or twice a week claiming that they are busy busy busy with:
  • Work
  • They are sick
  • Or even caring for their relative or terminally ill family member
At the end of the scam the scammer usually gets away with a large sum of money since he/she has been milking the victim for quite some time now.

HOW TO AVOID DATING SCAMS

http://toponlinedatingtips.net/3-most-common-online-dating-scams-and-how-to-avoid-them/

Here are some tips on how to avoid thse scams

1)Not who you're supposed to be.
  • Trust your gut.if something is wrong asks questions
  • Conceal your personal details.
  • If you agree to meet, meet in public and tell someone where you're going lile a friend or family.
2) Maried on the side.
Most of these people on the sites are married but here is how you can tell if they are married:
  •  Most married people will not have their picture on the site because they are afraid that someone might recognise them.
  • The person will ask for your numbers but never gives you theirs.
  • The person may call you at irregular times or even call you very late at night
  • As you become close this person will never introduce you to their family and friend.
3) Not a date at all-email scams
This scam occurs when you are first creating your online profile and start chatting to others simply because you're automatically asked to give your email address then suddenly you recieve a lot of undated spam. But here is your solution do not give your email address to anyone unless you're sure of who they are. Use a separate address that you can at anytime delete when you start getting a lot of spam.

4) The online dating shakedown

This is the most common, dangerous and hurtful scam because;
  • The person will pretend to know and  start liking you
  • Then starts to ask you to send them money claiming to come visit you but never visits
  • Fortunately this scam is avoidable because you can stay clear on any person asking you to send them money.
